The Personal Quarterly Review provides a framework for deep self-reflection on your progress towards achieving your meaningful goals. It’s particularly helpful for individuals who feel stuck, or those who feel overwhelmed by everything on their plate.

Great for:

These days people are busier than ever before. Feeling anxious and overwhelmed is a persistent problem for many. In our constant quest for getting things done, we forget to make space for acknowledging progress we’ve already made. We spend too much energy thinking “look how far I have to go” and not enough on “look how far I’ve come”.

Conducting a personal quarterly review is a powerful method for building your confidence and clarifying your priorities over time, especially when combined with an annual goal setting process.


Consider that publicly traded companies all around the world are required to file quarterly reports - updating investors on their achievements and setbacks, and revising their future outlooks. This quarterly process is one of the main mechanisms by which companies and their investors measure progress and identify challenges.

The questions below provide a framework for you as the primary investor in your own life to reflect on your progress and recalibrate your efforts. Doing this every three months provides an increment of time that is long enough to provide for meaningful progress on goals, but not so long that you forget what’s happened. It reduces anxiety and overwhelm by creating space to acknowledge your progress and achievement, while also allowing time to make reasonable adjustments for things that aren’t working.



In an environment where you can be comfortable and focused for an hour or two, write down your answers to the following questions. You might write them as a series of bullet points or a stream of consciousness. You can write as much or as little as you like, but don’t avoid writing something because it might seem insignificant to someone else 먹튀검증. Unlike public companies, your quarterly reviews are for your eyes only (unless of course you want to share them with loved ones, or on social media - which is something I do and have found tremendous added benefit from).


Over the last three months...

Q1. What were my accomplishments?

List anything that feels like an accomplishment to you or that you want to recognize yourself for. (e.g. “finished writing my book”, “enrolled in an improv class”)


Q2. What helped me achieve these accomplishments?

List any motivations, tools, people, experiences, etc. that helped you make things happen. (e.g. “my spouse who never gives up on me”, “writing my daily to-do list out on a separate sheet of paper”)


Q3. What did I not accomplish that I intended to?

List anything you specifically thought would happen in the past three months that didn’t. (e.g. “I didn’t finish unpacking all the boxes”, “I didn’t ask for a raise”)


Q4. What stopped me?

Describe any thought patterns or circumstances that you feel hindered you. (e.g. “I didn’t think anyone would take me seriously”, “I got sick”)


Q5. What have I learned?

What lessons can you take away from the last three months? What new thoughts are present? (e.g. “I’m a lot more capable than I thought!”)


Over the next three months...

Q6. What is one big thing I can accomplish that will make a meaningful difference in my life?


Choose one goal that you can reasonably accomplish in the next three months that would be a big deal for you. (e.g. “start a blog”, “call my dad”)

Q7. What do I want to start doing/do more of/do less of/stop doing?

List anything you want to work on in the next three months. (e.g. “start meditating”, “go dancing every week instead of once a month”, “spend less time on social media”, “stop replying to negative comments on my blog”)


Q8. What beliefs/values/motivations do I have that will help me achieve these goals?

What internal drives can you leverage in pursuing your goals? (e.g. Beliefs: “Making money enables me to make a bigger contribution to the causes I care about”, “I am a reliable partner”; Values: “I am committed to producing excellent work, no matter what I’m working on”, “I don’t want to cause harm to animals”; Motivations: “I want to have freedom to travel the world”, “I must leave this planet healthier for my children”)


Q9. What other resources can I use to help me achieve these goals?

What external resources are available to you to help you pursue your goals? (e.g. “I have friends who are experienced entrepreneurs who could give me advice”, “I can sign up for an online course in marketing”)


Tips for coaches

Clients should be encouraged to feel unconstrained in answering these questions, as there are no “right” answers. The exercise is designed to generate new insights into what is meaningful and available to your client, so a certain amount of brainstorming should be encouraged. It is important to encourage your client to observe “small” accomplishments in addition to “big” ones.


This exercise is particularly effective as a guided group workshop, where individuals can be encouraged to share their answers with each other and offer resources for achieving future goals.
